What is CORE4?
A unique intern program for younger students to experience and learn a variety of design, engineering and manufacturing technologies. Students will be taught safety and use of a variety of tools and equipment. They will be introduced to 2D and 3D design and will work to develop products, kits, and courses.
Students will be expected to become proficient in engineering practices and processes, developing techniques to implement in manufacturing scenarios. This program will prepare students for next generation jobs like no other has done before. We are teaching skills for jobs that don't exist yet.
This is a very competitive program. Only 4 students will be selected for each semester. Students may request to stay on longer than a single semester but acceptance into future semesters will be based on their past performance and the current applicant pool.
This program is NOT a traditional class or course. There will be very little classroom instruction. We believe very strongly in experiential learning where students will learn by researching and doing. We want students to make mistakes (in a safe manner). We want them to learn from their mistakes. And we want them to learn that they can succeed on their own!
Students will receive a certificate of achievement from M4Reactor at the successful completion of the semester.
Who can apply?
Only students at between 13 and 17 years old at the time of the starting day of the semester will be qualified to submit an application.
Students must have their own transportation to our facility at 31901 Tri-County Way, Suite 135, Salisbury MD 21804 during course times.
When is it?
This program runs by semester including a Spring (Feb-May), Summer (June-Aug) and Fall Semester (Sep-Dec).
Students will meet with mentors weekly, normally Tuesdays from after school (normally 4pm when students arrive) until 6:00pm. The students may opt to attend the facility at other times to work on projects.
What does it cost?
The only cost for the program is a one-time $30 fee to cover all safety equipment that will be due on acceptance into the program. The rest of the course is funded by a scholarship from M4Reactor.
The student or parent does not need to pay for a membership at M4Reactor.
